SUBJECT:   Restoration of the Detroit Film Theatre


Restoration of the 1927 Film Theater's 1200-seat auditorium, lobby and mezzanine gallery areas took place both before and during last year's extensive reconstruction of the DIA's exhibit spaces, The auditorium and its outer areas feature many interesting architectural and decorative elements. Larry will present a history of this performance venue, designed by Paul Philippe Cret and C. Howard Crane. We will also be shown the theater's audio, 16 / 35mm film and digital video projection facilities. The presentation will be followed by a film, "2007 Academy Award Nominated Shorts."

Larry Baranski, Associate Curator, has been with the Film Theatre for 33 Years.
