Description

The next SBE Chapter 52 group meeting will take place on Wednesday, 2025 May 21, at WOSU Public Media, 1800 North Pearl Street, Columbus, Ohio 43201. SMPTE Ohio Chapter members and guest are invited to attend. The meeting will also be available via the online ZOOM meeting platform, so any interested OHIO section members/guests could view it at a distance from around the Ohio section territories, in addition to attending in person.


The next SBE Chapter 52 Spring time group meeting will take place on Wednesday, 2025 May 21st, at the ultra modern WOSU Public Media office plant located at: 1800 North Pearl Street, Columbus OH 43201. Metered street parking is accessible near the building along with a nearby Parking garage located on the west side of High Street. The refreshments/social period will begin at 7PM (EDT) followed by the full meeting beginning at 7:30PM.


The name of the meeting program will be: "Bringing to Light: The Changes in the Tower Lighting World!" The guest presenters for the evening will be Bear Poth, the founding President and CEO of LumenServe, home based in Austin Texas, as well as other seasoned professionals from their firm. The program will include: the latest updates in broadcast tower lighting, specifically focusing on the recent Federal Aviation Administration regulations. The presenters will cover Key changes in FAA compliance rules for tower lighting as well as, Innovations in LED usage within the tower lighting sector. The FAA compliance rules for your tower's obstruction lighting continue to be updated as evidenced by the November 2020 circular! LumenServe will review some key aspects of the regulations that you need to know! LEDs have been around for many years, however, in the tower lighting world their deployment is creating big changes. In addition, the traditional practice of procurement, maintenance, has a new model: Tower Lighting as a Service. LumenServe is at the forefront of this new approach to tower lighting, and its advantages and implications will also be explored!


This informational presentation should be especially beneficial for the various terrestrial broadcast radio and television transmission tower plant operators located within the various SBE member territories within Ohio! This meeting will also be accessible online via the ZOOM system, thus permitting the opportunity for a sure to be lovely Question & Answer session interacting with outside viewers, etc. at the conclusion of the presentations!
